★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a gorgeous little beach, which can be quite busy on hot summer days in the school hols, although it did not cause us any issues in getting parked near the beach.
The beach is easy to access, with steps and a ramp as well as good, clean toilets at the top of the beach.
The beach has a rocky reef platform at the right side, which at low tide is good for rock pools, while at high tide there is good snorkelling along the reef, with the possibility of seeing a variety of sea life including stingrays.
The rest of the beach is mostly sandy, with a few small stones, and the waves can occasionally get a bit splashy, making it great fun. There were people of all ages enjoying the beach on the occasions we have been, so it seems like a safe family beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a beautiful bay surrounded by rugged cliffs with the vivid blue ocean waves cresting in pure white onto the beach. Due to recent storms, the sand has been replaced by darks stone pebbles, though over time this will be reversed by natural sea movement. Not a big place but stunningly beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really pretty place to visit with a picturesque drive out - 35 minutes from the Whangarei Town Basin. Full of variety - swimming, white sandy beach to sit and enjoy the scenery and have a picnic, trees to climb, and rock pools to explore. Even had accessible clay cliffs - so we made some little clay people to sit on the trees stumps. Toilets were clean, with accessible parking close to beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely slice of Kiwi as batches by the sea, unspoilt, rugged coastline.
Around every corner, a new, spectacular, East Coast vista.
And most days, quiet...... the way most of us like it.
Great place for a barbie or a picnic..... just make sure to bring everything you need.
(And leave nothing behind, eh)!
