β β β β β Went on a day trip to see Huntly's pride and joy, (second to the Deka sign). Very nice. Great success. Highly recommended. The chimney stacks were 2/2, and overall I'd rate this 10/10.

β β β β β Tours use to be offered back in the day, however they discontinued that, these days only way in is if you are an employee of Genesis energy.
NZ biggest coal/gas generator that is used for back up on dry spells or peak demand. Although it is coal/gas burn, that is filtered out finely to ensure minimal environmental impact. (Hence the reason why you can see Ash from the chimneys)
Has 6 turbines with unit 5 and 6 being the strongest and most recent additions.

Also an important part of Huntly's community as a major employer for so many (not enough?) years.
Once upon a time vapour was visible from the chimney stacks and always used as a point of reference time-wise for trip to/from Auckland/Hamilton.
A clear unobstructed view of chimneys and building can be seen from Huntly Visitor Centre on the main road north south.
