★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very good place to visit and go for a walk with the family... The Isel House was closed unfortunately but we managed to wander around the park and enjoyed the mature trees and lush greenery of the park. You can also take your dog for a good stroll. No entrance fee. Ample parking too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely wooded gardens to stroll around and learn the history of the family who used to live there. The house is well worth taking the time to visit (just a donation required to help with the upkeep of the building). Nice little garden tearoom too! And regular picnic evenings on the front lawns of the house, with stalls selling every kind of food, and a real party atmosphere for families to enjoy. A really special place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thursday - market day, wonderful food stalls, great crowds, music, dog friendly venue. Try different ethnic foods, go to the Isel Cafe and get a lively wine or beer, cider or non alcoholic drink with your meal. Gardens are beautiful and well maintained by the Council contractor Nelmac. A lovely jewel in the city's assets.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a nice, small park. There is some good history here, the park is named after the house which in turn is named for a town in Cumbria, England. There are some lovely large trees, and a bit of seating scattered around the park. Perfect place to sit and eat your fish and chips as it is quite sheltered. You can also walk your dog here, and there is a large field south of the park if you like to take your doggy for a bit of a run or to chase a ball. Be wary as some of the pine tree branches have been known to fall during high winds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always a pleasant place to walk. Lots of different areas - tree lined paths, wide open fields, massive shade trees and even a stream. Great views out to the sea too from the top fields

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Has a very cool Disc Golf course which crosses back and forth across the creek. I’d recommend taking a photo of the map to know where to aim and where to go next.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful park to bring children for a relaxing day out. Paths, a cafe with small playground, river and a frisbee course. Blessed to see lots of NZ wood pigeons feeding on tree fruits too
