β β β β β Do not stay at this hotel - I am filing a formal complaint with the local council about this place, it should be shut down. Here's what we encountered during our stay:
1) There was rat poo on the bed on one of the blankets - which I had accidentally sat on in the only dress I packed. I had to scrub the dress for about 20 minutes in the basin in my room
2) Copious amounts of ants - I emptied out all of the packets of coffee, tea and sugar and realised there was an open sachet of sugar which had attracted ants. I spent time cleaning up the ants and the coffee & tea storage container
3) The window at night wouldnβt shut - the frame of the window was bent, so hundreds of mosquitoβs came in
4) The room was generally unclean - there were dozens of daddy long legs which shows the room just hasnβt been cleaned to the point where the room was just not usable
5) The final straw was finding a cockroach in our bed which we have a picture of - that was the final straw and we were prompted to pack everything up at 3am and leave the hotel - we had to drive 1 hour and a half to get back home.
I am trying to get my money back - if they refuse I will go to the disputes tribunal.
I am appalled as an NZ Citizen that a hotel like this is allowed to operate, I've stayed at over 100 hotels and motels over the years, and I've never encountered anything as disgusting at this.
Do not stay here!

β β β β β Very good service, clean room with heating. Nice bar, very spacious. We had the lamb shank and the steak and they were both 10/10 meals. Reasonable price for accomodation thats also close enough to parakai hot springs, would reccomend.

β β β β β Located on the scenic highway route that runs thru some beautiful countryside, this pub is warm welcoming and a logical stop for a cold ale and food. There is relaxing garden bar area for the kids to let off some steam, a.good selection of pizza to choose from and friendly locals to chat to. Worth the stop folks!

β β β β β Lovely welcoming host, bar staff friendly and very competent. Surf n Turf delicious. AND sudden wish for a cup a tea is granted..
Good food, very comfortable beds, PRISTINE rooms. Good nights sleep.
Awakening the next morning to the bonus of finding an amazing shop on site was very unexpected, overwhelm by beautiful unusual display: jewelry, clothes, etc - seriously check it out.

β β β β β Bar staff were incredibly grumpy. Quite pricey, standard selection of drinks. Lovely outdoor seating area. Long wait for food but my God was it good! Fantastic food served by the chef who was so friendly and accommodating. Loved it.
