About Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust
Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust (KFST) - has been in operation since 1999.
The service was established by the Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust who continues to govern as KFST. The Trust was a result of the tripac partnership formed between Maatua Whangai o Kirikiriroa, Specialist Education Services and Te Kohao Health to provide the Family Start programme in Hamilton City.
The Trust membership has now changed to the following representatives:
Hagen Tuatari (Chairperson), Toni Welch & Denise Kingi.
The partnership was formed because of the shared belief that
Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust was a means to:
Empower and strengthen individuals, and through individuals their families and whanau and communities. Provide a programme that endorses the kaupapa of Tino Rangatiratanga. Provide intervention to those in need at the earliest possible moment
through strength-based activities.
Hence the recording of KFST’s primary kaupapa–philosophy/value base as being:

When is something going to be done about the families affected by unqualified and inexperienced social workers inputting incorrect, inaccurate and misleading information into the ViKI system?
One individual bailed knowing they stuffed up but the others involved didn't step up to correct the wrongdoings caused by the Hamilton Children's Team, leaving vulnerable victims to try picking up the pieces and patch together their broken whānau with little to no support, having to suffer further abuse because police and certain agencies or workers don't help when they're going off the incorrect information in the system. It's been several years so some of your staff have changed, but there's those who are still there and knew what happened.
These failures are still having an impact on the whānau, especially for those who had their Family Court cases affected and had no one stand up when they should've to say "We were wrong and we'll help fix this". DV and child abuse in NZ is bad enough, why make it worse or not do anything to help the already broken families your lead professionals caused further damage and harm to? You broke it and you can fix it, so why haven't you?
