Our Mission
Honey bees, as small as they are, play an enormous role in our everyday life. We may not think about it often but bees are responsible for pollinating around 70% of the world’s fruit, vegetable and flower crops. Without them we would be in serious trouble.
Over the past decade, there has been a worrying trend of decreasing bee populations and increasing health issues, such as the Verroa mite.
As with most ecological crisis, humans have directly contributed to the issues facing honey bees – over use of dangerous pesticides and poor beekeeping practices are 2 major culprits, along with loss of habitats all over the world. β¨β¨Our goal at Kiwibees is to directly benefit the bee population in New Zealand by promoting sustainable beekeeping practices, encouraging biodiversity through planting efforts, and increasing population through the host-a-hive service.
