β β β β β Poor customer service. Extremely rude staff who showed no courtesy whatsoever when I expressed that I was not happy with the lash extensions I received.
I had booked my appointment a couple of weeks in advance for a very special upcoming event that I wanted to look my best for. Having not had eyelash extensions for over a year, I was excited to finally have them done again.
The lash technician, Elyse, greeted me as we proceeded to a private room where the lashes were applied. She was friendly and kind.
The application process took two hours which is much longer than I anticipated. When she was finished, I could not open my left eye, as the top and bottom lashes had glued together. Elyse then tried to separate them with the tools that she was using, which really hurt as it subsequently pulled several of my natural lashes out.
When she handed me a hand mirror to look at them, they looked odd and uneven, though, I paid and left as I was conscious of the time by this point.
When I got home, I looked in the mirror again and I could see (and feel) clumps of glue and lashes. They were not applied individually (as they are meant to be), and my own natural lashes, that had been pulled out by Elyse, were stuck amongst the lumps of glue. They also looked terrible - many of the lashes were going in different directions and they were sparce.
I spent the next few days trying to separate the lashes and get out the lumps of glue with my tweezers. I was so upset, and decided to go back in and speak to them.
When I went back in, Nadia (hairstylist) walked over to the counter. She did not greet me, did not smile, and came across very cold. I told her what had happened and asked what my options were. She informed me that both Elyse, and the manager, Mel, were away that day, and so I would have to come back in the next day instead. She told me that she is not trained in lashes and has no authority to offer any sort of refund. She also asked what was 'even' wrong with them and never took my name/number etc.
By this point I was quite miffed, as my event that I had got the lashes for was in only a few days and the opportunity to have them fixed elsewhere (and pay more), was closing.
I went back in the next morning as advised - Mel (manager) was sat at reception. Like Nadia, she also did not say anything to greet me and had a scorn look on her face when she saw me walk in. I told her who I was, why I was there and that I had been in the day prior. She too asked me what was wrong with them. This seemed odd, because I would have thought it was pretty obvious just by looking at them. I started to mention the amount of dried up crusted glue that was now all throughout the lashes but she was too busy looking at her computer screen looking for a time/date to get me back in. She then tells me that I can come back in in nine days time.. NINE. My event was in two. When I told Mel this, she 'matter of fact' responded with 'well, that's all I can do'.
For my event in Manawatu, I paid my make up artist extra to have her apply false eyelashes on top of the current mess that I had to try and hide them. More money wasted.
When I got back, I went back into Sheer Bliss, where I found Mel once more sitting at reception with the same look of disgust on her face. Again, no greeting. I tried to express how much money, effort and time this experience had cost me, but she did not seem to care. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. There were no customer service or customer recovery skills demonstrated. All she was willing to offer me was for them to be re-done by the same lady, Elyse. I declined, saying that I was not comfortable to be in there, let alone potentially have the same thing happen again. I had already lost many of my own natural lashes, which Mel had the audacity to accuse me of 'probably' doing by rubbing them. I did not need the lashes anymore as my event had long been and gone.
I never received an apology or refund and was made to feel like an inconvenience every single time I went back.
I went elsewhere to have them removed, at my cost.
