Curriculum
We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki,
“For children to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society”.
Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners.
Te Whāriki supports this work by providing a framework of principles and strands. The principles are the foundations of curriculum decision making and a guide for every aspect of pedagogy and practice. The strands are 5 areas of learning and development, where the focus is on supporting children to develop the capabilities they need as confident and competent learners. Each setting takes these principles and strands and, in partnership with parents and whānau, uses them to ‘weave’ a curriculum whāriki that is specifically designed for their children.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We’ve been with learning tree for almost 4 years now for both our kids. We moved from the Albany branch to Hobsonville once that opened and the staff and teachers are excellent. Our kids love the teachers and have made some special connections with the children also. The food always smells great and looks healthy. Whenever we’ve asked for something the staff have always found a way to work with us feel secure and our kids completely at home at the centre.

Ngā mihi nui to Shelly, Jennifer and all the wonderful staff there for taking such awesome care of our kids. My Potoki is the last one at the Centre and I always feel so safe in the knowledge that he is in such good hands! 10/10!!!!

My younger one also enrolled there after he turned 8 months. He was unbelievably well-cared by the lovely teachers, gaining confidence and new skills much faster than before. I cannot recommend more.

From the beginning I felt confident leaving him with the staff who were welcoming and attentive and listened to me as a parent. I really needed my child to feel nurtured and as he has continued to grow we have always felt this from the teachers and management. I really value this place as my child's second home and have no hesitation to recommend it to any families looking for a place to support them with childcare.
