About Little Steps ECE Centre Limited
At Little Steps we use Te Whāriki to guide our practice. Te Whāriki is the national curriculum for children from birth to the start of school. Teachers weave together the principles and strands in Te Whāriki to create a holistic, child-centred, locally reflected curriculum.
We believe that children learn through play. Our teachers design planning and set up our environment to give children exposure to key curriculum areas such as: art, health and physical education, language, mathematics, science, social sciences, and technology. However, these curriculum areas are weaved throughout our day and are introduced in fun and natural ways. This looks different in each of our rooms depending on the age and stage of the children. Our aim is to provide children with new experiences and expose them to many areas of knowledge and information. This helps them to develop their own ideas, interests, and working theories, which are then supported and extended by their teachers.
