Great B&B plus great host's all you want. It's well away from all the hustle of the world. Great rooms. Lots of things to look at both inside and outside.

Lovely experience staying in a remote rural house in the middle of Ruahine's forest park. We had the whole villa for our one day stay, which felt like a folk museum from the 1800 - but with heating, hot water and wi-fi. We stayed for dinner, and our hosts David and Sue prepared us a gorgeous feast of a meal. They were good fun and had lots of stories from their life to share. The breakfast is included, and again there were lots of delicious options (cereals, freshly baked croissants, muesli, toasted breads with jams and honey, freshly cut fruit salad) - including a cooked breakfast.

My husband and I stayed one night and we wish we had stayed much longer. The room was very comfortable, food was excellent, David and Sue were so warm and welcoming. We hope to return again. This place is magical!

We (plus puppy) had a wonderful 3 night stay at the cottage on the Mairenui retreat property. Easily accessible for a long weekend from Wellington. David and Sue made us feel very welcome with a fire already going for our night time arrival, milk in the fridge and two types of coffee maker, coffee options and a milk frother (my fave). The combination of chopping some kindling for the fire each night plus also having heaters, electric blankets, string wifi and a microwave was perfect! So was waking up after a great sleep in a totally quiet rural environment, to mist draped across the rolling hills and a brisk walk around the property - only to bump into David who suggested we take the puppy to meet his dog Ash - they dashed all over the place as we then headed to the sports horses fields with David to feed them apples. While there we did a short hike into the ruahine ranges, went kayaking with the Awastone team and then had a great hot tub there and dinner. And on the last day, visited glow worm caves and explored the surrounding villages and towns. We could have easily stayed a week, the cottage had everything we needed, great hosts and great location.
