The best honey available anywhere is untampered with, unadulterated, unfiltered, unpasteurised raw local honey. No heat treatments, none of the pollen taken out of it, just as the bees and Mother Nature intended it. Unlike many other honey sources, our honey is all multifloral for a few reasons. Monoculture, or just having one floral source for the bees to forage on, is not healthy for the bees. Effectively we just let our girls go shopping as you would. They go after the many varied nectar sources available at certain times of the year, giving them a complete, varied and healthy diet, rather than forcing them to forage on just one type of floral source. Can you imagine just eating the same thing, day in and day out? Apart from being boring, it is not healthy. Did you know that the bees don’t even like Manuka. In fact, when there are other floral sources available, they will fly around or over the Manuka to get to the other floral sources. There is much hype about the miracles that abound through the use of Manuka Honey but there is no Medical evidence or Laboratory testing anywhere that has shown any advantages of the internal use of Manuka Honey. Certainly, it is effective when used on skin conditions, wounds, etc but no more so than any other local raw Honey. So, for the benefit of our bees and for us our speciality is local honey which led to the development of our New Zealand “Postcode Honey”. It doesn’t take Laboratory testing for us to be able to tell you that our honey has come from the beehives in a certain location or even a certain beehive in that said location. Each season, we are happy and proud to be able to offer our Postcode Honey from beehives located within 500 metres of the Ashburton Domain, where the girls have foraged all season on the Domain Gardens and surrounding gardens within a 3 to 5 km radius. This is True Ashburton Township Honey, a real taste of Ashburton and absolutely unique to Ashburton. It is in very limited supply because it comes from just a few beehives so if you want some you’re going to have to be quick. Our inventory will expand as we now have beehives working in other residential postcodes within the Ashburton District and we are looking to supply other honey by supporting other smaller Mum and Dad, Nan and Pop beekeepers in other postcodes across the country, sharing our point of difference being 100% Local, Raw, Multifloral Honey from your postcode which your own beautiful gardens may well have contributed to.
