★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was a bookish kid, bit of a know-it-all really, with zero interest in sports. In my second year (4 Pro 1, class of '67), the deputy head Skip Brown took me into his office and told me that if I didn't play rugby for the school I would, in his words, "not get on very well around here." I didn't play rugby and assume that this was the reason I was caned viciously and repeatedly for serious offences like: running in the hall; talking in class (many of these!); being in the general vicinity when someone (not me) laughed at the headmaster; all the way up to possession of cigarettes. Eventually, seeing no further value in a Manurewa High School education, rather than bend over for yet another pointless and PAINFUL beating (this time for refusing to pick up a piece of paper someone else had dropped), I walked out.
My parents were sent a letter saying I had been expelled. That is not quite true – I walked out!
My father and the head were both old soldiers and I was persuaded to go back, but by then my girlfriend was pregnant and I had other responsibilities so that did not last long.
That was then. I sincerely hope that MHS is a more enlightened institution now.

And two Bestfriends who goes to this school.Love it here missing begins in this school.I'm an ex student from manurewa high school bestfriends.sometimes I surprise them and the teachers.and school.Love it here Rewa hard.I graduate at school in 2016.I still hang out with my two Bestfriends.I love hangout with them.schools is amazing.best school ever. and funny school ever.I love playing sports.and anything New.it amazing if you love playing sports or reading.dancing .or actor

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worse school ever don't recommend sending your child there it was my biggest mistake. Why? My child was one of the lucky ones been bullied there and they did nothing about it. Don't send your children there. There are some good teachers there I'm not saying that but, somehow things are not put right there-kids are getting bullied there, and it's been on the news and now another student passed away, what gives??
