About Maraeroa Marae Health Centre Inc
History
Maraeroa Marae opened its Health Clinic in June 1995 in response to the need to provide better access to primary health services for Maori - typically, those Maori that were not from the Porirua Kapiti region. Although this target group remains the Clinic's focus, the provision of these services to the whole community, in recent times, has become more prevalent.
The immediate coverage area of the clinic was from Porirua East to Plimmerton, however when the need arose the service would extended their services to Johnsonville to Raumati South. It was estimated that Maori made up to 75% of the Health Clinics total client population. The Clinic's services would visit client's at their place of choice. The service also provided health education and information to suit the needs of different ages, ethnicity and communities.

Maraeroa Marae Health Clinic provides opportunities so that whānau can thrive within our Porirua community, to participate and enjoy tikanga Māori, while having their health and social needs met or exceeded.

To promote leadership through role modelling that supports the community by being a cultural centre of excellence within the Wellington region with Maraeroa Marae as a turangawaewae or standing place.

Mana Motuhake – valuing and maintaining individual rights through responsible actions, and valuing all whaiora/service users, their whanau, staff and both contracted and volunteer workers.
