First tip is: Think you need a 20% deposit? Think again. 5% deposit options are now available at Matthew Dawe Mortgages just get in touch.
Second tip is: You can use your Kiwisaver for this deposit. If you have been contributing to Kiwisaver for more than 3 years, if you have, your employer would have been matching your contributions and you can withdrawal all this money to help you buy your first home. You just have to leave $1,000 in your account.
Tip #3 is: Don't wait. Now's your chance to buy a nice home at a fair price. Who knows what the market is going to be doing in 1, 2, 3, 4 years. It's like walking into a store and everything's temporarily on sale, do you want the sale to end or do you want to be able to get into something sooner?

There is a big stigma in Auckland where people think it is impossible to buy their first home before they turn 30 these days! Naturally (being 24 with a small deposit), it seemed this would be true for myself.
