About McLennan

There’s more to McLennan than the house you live in, it’s a community focused development. All homes, streets, parks and gardens have been beautifully designed to help make your house a home.

McLennan is being built alongside open spaces and recreational parks of Papakura and Takanini. It’s where town meets country; where life meets leisure. The current residences love McLennan; take a look at some of their testimonials.

I was renting a place in Remuera so I'm a first time buyer and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of the process. Everything was wrapped up nicely, which made life a lot easier! Modus Construct was our builder. Bloody good people!

I live with my better half - Tracey. She's currently studying to be a teacher. I'm a Deputy Principal myself, so the shared holidays will be a nice bonus! I work at a school not too far away and have already had a few questions thrown my way about which school to send kids. I'm happy to provide a bit of local knowledge here, especially if McLennan newbies have school-aged kids.

I'd spent quite some time looking at an array of houses on offer all around South Auckland, and you could tell that the McLennan houses were more thoughtfully designed. I've got some construction experience, so I knew the specs were attractive. That, plus the design team had done a good job of creating models and impressions of the houses. McLennan isn't cramped or claustrophobic like other developments I'd seen, and the houses have some proper style.

Buying a house at McLennan was simple as - I walked into the sales office and talked to Kevin Coppins from Barfoot + Thompson. Once I had found the site I wanted, it was all on! I decided on a 3 bedroom house. I love our house because it's bloody good to look at, it's north facing and it opens up out to a big open space - the main park/playground space.

"We went to our first McLennan event recently and absolutely enjoyed the night. We will come to more in the future, it was a good introduction the community we only moved a month ago from Mount Roskill.

We love visiting the Hunua Ranges nearby. There is so much more to do around here, we are looking forward to discovering new places and meeting new friends. As McLennan grows we want to be safe place where people are respectful of their neighbours.

The buying process when smoothly with the help of our estate agent."

"I used to stay in Mount Wellington area. I was a first time buyer. It was a learning experience for me. I’ve gone through the process by myself and learnt the steps and now I can say it’s not so difficult once you buy a first home. I liked the look of the house and when I checked the area.

I haven’t been involved in community events yet but I am interested to join in as a sense of community is important to me so you have the help and feel a sense of belonging. Bringing back the feeling where you know your neighbours and you feel safe because you trust them."

"We chose McLennan for the great location, surrounded by parks giving it an awesome urban atmosphere. We chose our house because it perfectly fits our needs and has a fanatic modern feel.

We know all our immediate neighbours and often meet up for a chat to everyone’s in the wider community. We look forward to more community events and getting to know more people moving into the subdivision.

There are lots of great local hotspot around the area that we love visiting, especially walking up Camp Sladdin in Clevedon then enjoying breakfast at the farmers market."

"It took time looking at properties to buy in Auckland, we found the estate agent helpful to find our home at McLennan. We bought our father and grandfather to look at the plans and look around the area.

We like the design of the homes, the area is individual but works well together with an urban feel and green spaces. It’s a very big contrast to where we lived previously.

We are looking forward to more people moving into McLennan. There is the sports ground, the library and convenient shopping close by. We are also looking forward to it being finished and a community being established."

"Friends love the community feel when they visit, which is unique these days. Like our parents used to have when they knew everyone around them.

McLennan is popular with young families and is nicely located. We like the parks and how it’s not clogged up for space.

McLennan gives you piece of mind, value for money and good quality, which matters a lot to us. We didn’t want to compromise. A new house, a well known builder and a 10 year warranty. We love our modern new home and a bonus is that we save on maintenance costs."

We realised after a while of looking at houses the only option we had was to move South and buy in a new, affordable development. We looked at a development in Pukekohe, but decided the commute to work was going to be too hard. We also looked at a terraced house in Addison in Takanini, but decided it wasn’t right for us. Eventually we stumbled across McLennan on Trademe homes and really fell in love with the idea of the small community and the modern home designs, we loved that it was so close to the parks for our dog and the location was close to amenities and the motorway.

As we were first time buyers it was a very testing time for us! What we like about McLennan is the size, it’s not too big, so it means it’s easier to get to know who your neighbours are. It’s cool that all the people are in the same life stage - young professionals and young families. We love that we can take our dog out for walks around the neighbourhood.

We did a lot of weekend visits and drove past other houses that were already built, and also ours as it went up. We had the specs from Generation Homes so looked up things like the colours, appliances etc online. The high ceilings in the living and dining make it feel really spacious and we love that our living room gets all day sun. We love the modern, simple design, and we love the fact that we don’t even notice how close our house is to another because of the design.

Only one way in via car on Battalian Dr but lots of alleyways for people on foot/bike to get in and out. So when you get burgled, and you probably will be in this area (lived here for 6 months and was burgled twice) the cops can only come in the single road while the hoodrats have their pick of exits.
