★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The wife was gifted an old garden bench seat, the kind with the heavy decorative cast iron ends. I suggested to her that rather that trying to sand them or wire brush them that she get them sand blasted and primed. I figured it would save her a bunch of time and effort (not to mention broken fingernails..!) and then i would be able to just scotch pad and spray paint them for her and job done. I suggested she take them to Metal Immersions to get them blasted. She asked that i call them and get a ball park figure price wise. I rang them in front of her and was told quite bluntly, "No, I'd need to see them" and then was basically hung up on. The wife was headed to Porirua the next day, so I threw them in the back of the wagon for her so she could stop in and show the guy to get a quote. Apparently he refused to entertain the notion of blasting and priming them and would only quote her to blast and powdercoat them. He gave her a ball park quote of $150.....each! Needless to say, we haven't had them done. Customer service is rubbish, the phone manner is unpleasant and pricing is ridiculous. (To be fair though, he was quoting for a service we weren't actually after) I wouldn't be recommending this business to anyone I know. Unless maybe I didn't like them very much.
