★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'd just like to say a big thank you to your security staff . My daughter had a wee moment on Friday night 7/1 outside ed around 6ish . And your staff were changing over , and were first to her . They were awesome , got her sorted for me . I really appreciated their kindness and help .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought my daughter in for DKA, that cleared after a few hours, she ended up and still is now, Tachycardia, have been seated in the hallway for the last 5hrs, nothing done, have not been told that anything is happening, plenty of empty rooms available, but my daughter is in the hallway, she was moved down the hallway to an even less comfortable spot, still in the hallway, for the slightly more comfortable spot to be taken by an empty bed... Nowhere for myself to sit, after doing a 14hr shift at work and coming straight to the hospital with a sick child and waiting around for them to do absolutely nothing, I'm about to take my child home, these people standing around chatting like they on holiday, but moaning about more pay, for what, I don't see it, I get less pay than them and do more work, this E.D is ridiculous... And it's a total chaotic mess in here...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst hospital waiting hours i’ve ever had. I went there due to SOB and chest pain, arrived there at 5pm and was seen/triaged by the nurse right away. The next step was then done at past 10am the following day! Waited and stayed the whole night at waiting area for 17 hrs. There were elderlies who waited longer than me just to be seen by doctors. This should be critically looked at by the management and the board! Understaffed, and each staff seemed to be overloaded with work. I understand that there isn’t enough bed, but if there’s enough staff/doctors working on each shift, patients won’t need to wait that long.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not the best conditions in Ed, no water offered for 6 hours. Nothing about what was happening was ever explained to me multiple people told me different things leaving me confused. I was given no choice around which arm to put my IV in. Was told my phone was at reception and the nurse was picking it up for me only to wait another 3 hours for my parents to do so.
However the nurses at MAPU were amazing , swapped my IV line , gave me coloring in and puzzles, and explained what was happening.
5 stars for Nurse Renee who gave me milo for my ice-cream :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Totally appalled at the lack of organized appropriate triage in ED at Palmerston North Hospital.
How ever busy they are if there is no proper triage then how do they assess they are safe to just stay waiting in the waiting room with absolutely no attention or questions appropriate to any needs.
So many bad experiences it's the last place I'd choose to go if I needed medical help, if I can possibly avoid it.
