★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Called in from a bike ride. Friend ordered a Sav wine & Heinken zero. 10 mins later after asking where it was got told "sorry we don't have either of those or any other Sav's. We tried for a drink from fridge, options were about 6 different drinks for whole fridge with 1 or 2 of each. Sat outside in garden deck which doesn't look like it's been touched in 2 years(cleaning etc). To top it of septic tank overflowed as we leaving. That will be the reason the grass is so green and overgrown. People trying to eat there lunch with the overpowering stench of raw sewage leaking out onto concrete. Told lady inside who just sort of shrugged her shoulders. Used to be a lot better than this. Obviously the locals know whats going on as the English tea rooms across road was doing roaring trade. Will not be back. If I could give a zero I would.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A pleasant country style café. Considering the remoteness of this venue, it would be a sad report to say there was a light choice of eats. Relying on pass through customers, Mud Bay is a pleasant stop off point.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely fantastic food, burger was to die for. Chips were both fluffy and crispy with amazing seasonings. Customer service was flawless. Decor was very unique and appealing. Even the seats were comfy. Would highly recommend to all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wicked little Cafe, friendly staff. Yum as kai. They were happy to let us chill and download some movies of Netflix and games as we are staying without reception. They have a play area for little ones.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kumara stack is full of carrot and nacho mix, if you can't get ingerdients, take it off the menu. The salad was limp and lifeless but they drowned it in aioli to fix it up, so that's all good. 2 stars because I'm sure they are having a bad day or forgot to go shopping or something. Normally much better, I've been through often and got a far better coffee and far better food.
If it's got new owners, they deserve 1 star.

We all loved our coffee even if it was slow and it would appear that all the locals who got takeaways and came in after us were served first.
The food came out quick and our son inhaled the scone. Sadly it came out at least 10-15 min prior to our coffee so our sausage roll was Luke warm by the time we ate it while still waiting on coffee.
