Mustard Builders is a proud family business servicing the Waihi Beach and surrounding areas. It is a dream come true for most people to build or renovate a home and it’s our job to make the process as seamless as possible.
About Mustard Builders Limited
I grew up in Waihi Beach, where I lived in the same family home for my whole childhood. When I was young I spent most of my time at the beach and enjoying this small community lifestyle. My main interests are Surfing, Golfing, Music, Fishing and of course family time.
I went to Waihi College where I loved to participate in woodwork. I always had a passion for hands-on work and in the later years at college, I decided I wanted to become a builder.
I completed my apprenticeship with a local Waihi Beach Building company, where I worked alongside an inspiring foreman who allowed me to develop my skill set, make decisions, lead jobs, and find solutions to problems on-site when required. During my apprenticeship, I worked on a huge range of projects from high-end renovations to challenging architectural new builds. This allowed me to develop a wide range of skills over the 10 Year period. I decided it was time for a change and explored other options on the east coast of Australia where I ended up getting a job in Mackay in the mining industry. I worked over there for 2 years as a foreman, constructing multi-level mining accommodation buildings.
After this experience, I returned to Waihi Beach to settle back into my home town. I started back working as a foreman before deciding to form my own company.
November 2016 was the year that Mustard Builders Ltd became a reality. It was a huge leap of faith to start this company. I started small with purchasing my first company vehicle which I still see often on the roads of Waihi Beach.
My partner Emma and I live together in our freshly renovated home with our two young sons. I understand the demands of a young family while renovating a house as we did this ourselves! Mustard Builders is built on family values and I am proud to say it’s a family business. Emma is now involved in the running of Mustard Builders and uses some of the skills she developed as an Early Childhood trainee teacher to help organise our company.
We have a great passion to provide quality workmanship and management to all of our clients to ensure that the building process is enjoyable and exciting.

From the outset he understood our vision and was able to suggest options that worked within our budget. Simon is a great communicator and was positive in all our interactions with him.
