Napier Sailing Club - Ahuriri
About Napier Sailing Club
The Europe is a one-person dinghy designed in Belgium in 1960 by Alois Roland as a class legal Moth dinghy. The design later changed into its own one-design class. The dinghy is ideal for sailors weighing 50–75 kilos.
The hull is made of fiber glass and weighs 45 kg, fully rigged 60 kg. The dinghy is tapering in the stem and round in the bottom. The sail is made of dacron. The mast is made of carbon fibre and specially designed to the sailor. A soft mast is best for light sailors, while heavier sailors use stiffer masts. Sails are also specially designed according to mast stiffness and crew weight.
The Europe was introduced as an Olympic class in the 1992 Summer Olympics as the women's single-handed dinghy. It was replaced by the Laser Radial in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

β β β β β Food was great when it eventually arrived. I actually served our meals after waiting an hr for small fish and chips. Very average service and to be told they're busy when our regulars table had been missed is not good enough. Might be busy but time to get their act together!

β β β β β A very friendly welcoming club with great resources for day sailors, skiffs and power boats. A plan is in progress to replace and extend the existing marina (a mix of floating berths and piles) to create a larger 100% floating one with some berths possible of accommodating craft up to 30m.
We liked the club and the area so much that we joined it when we first came here in 2016.

β β β β β Awesome place. Sailed in after a bout of bad weather and had to make repairs. Professional staff and lovely yachties. Made a couple of great friends. Friday nights at the club bar are a good way to pass the time. Close proximity to a few good bars and a four square. I'd sail in there again just for the sake of it.

β β β β β Am a member here for power boat launching. It is by far the biggest and best maintained boat ramp in Napier. For a small fee it is secure, and plenty of parking.

β β β β β Can you believe this view!?! Winter sunsets and kayaking on the bay.
The restaurants and pubs on the quay are excellent stopping spots after an afternoon of wine tasting. The view of the marina, and the fishing boats are a great addition to the ambiance. I enjoyed walking here after dinner, there are plenty of taxis ready to take you home if youβve enjoyed a bit to much to make it home responsibly.
