★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very special store that spreads the love of slow crafts with genuine kindness. A beautiful selection of yarns and experienced people who can give expert advice. To refer to the people in store as staff seems not respectful enough because it's a personal and family-like atmosphere. Visit if you can, but mail order too!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Needle & Hook is a charming shop, elegantly laid out to show off the lovely range of yarn to best advantage. Their stock is almost all NZ wool, with a little bit of overseas yarn introducted recently (Sept 2020) because of supply problems during the pandemic. They have yarn from several local indie dyers, and two yarns we hadn't ever seen before - Lammermoor Organic and Mt Nicholas yarn.
The staff are helpful and give great service. They sell everything online too. I thoroughly recommend a visit. They are not on the main street, but nearby.
