Treasure for some and great place to take things to good to dump.
Has auction using paper for interesting items .
Takes a week and youare contacted if you are the highest bidder.

Parts for bicycles, bbq, plumbing, electrical and many other things.They have a wide variety of stuff and in the shop area they have a silent auction every week. If you are looking for something in particular the staff are helpful and friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don’t bother. Unethical practices and sneaky dealers. Total waste of time.
If you happen to find something cool here, when you take it to the counter to pay for it they will refuse to sell it to you. Instead they will take it off you and put it in their next rigged “auction”, where it will be sold cheaply to one of their mates instead of the highest bidder. On multiple occasions I have been told “oh, we must have missed that, we can’t sell it” only to see it for sale in next weeks auction.
Also don’t be fooled into thinking you will get a bargain at the silent auction, as (although they won’t tell you this) all the items have a hidden reserve, so even if you do bother bidding, you won’t get the items for less than the arbitrary inflated values they secretly put on them.
Frankly, the worst secondhand/junk shop in the South Island, by far. Take it off your list and don’t bother.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Got there at 4.22pm. they close at 4.20pm. Checked before I left home, said 4.30pm. Recycle was still open but dump closes 4.20. Should tell you on website.
