About New Plymouth Club
History
New Plymouth Club began after a special meeting chaired by the mayor of New Plymouth in May 1908. The meeting was called in response to increasing public pressure for a young men’s club as a junior organization to the gentlemen’s club (the Taranaki Club). Women were welcomed to become full members of the Club in 1975.
The Club started strong but then declined to well below 200 members in the early days. But thanks to sound leadership, New Plymouth Club pulled through to become one of the largest chartered clubs in New Zealand. Today the Club is signing up an average of 50 new members each month, with a fully subscribed membership of well over 5200 people.
New Plymouth Clubs attraction is obvious. It is a clean, safe and secure environment for members to visit and enjoy fellowship and socialising. Members visit the Club with their families to enjoy a drink and meal and to enjoy the various sporting activities – this epitomises what a modern day Club is all about.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good friendly staff, good set up. Went to get $ out of ATM and it swallowed my money when I went to grab it!!! Told barstaff and they commented "from previous customers experience it usually gets reimbursed in few days... I'm that's what happens why not notify the people who supply the ATM so they can do something about it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spacious club, 2 dedicated "venues" both dance floors plus main club for 500 people plus cue sports area of 6 full size Snooker tables and 10 pool tables. Bistro operates Wed to Sun lunch and dinner. Menu pointed to older people and heavy on fried food. (You sell what your customers "want" I guess). Outside balcony with sea view, and tables for your food or drink. Quite a bit of free parking for members under club.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw a live band, either the stage is too small to accommodate the sound equipment to get a good sound out or the band weren't good? I'm unsure?
Large complex with all the wants of entertainment, restaurant, bars, gaming, sports, fair prices.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drinks expensive, went to have dinner but closed restaurant early without telling patrons but the chef reluctantly did our meals, steak was so tough was uneatable, probably cooked in microwave, would not recommend having a meal there.

Later went to see an event there in an ajasent room to see a wonderful band.... Evan Silva and Silva Service. Wow.... What a group. I know Evan from back in the day in Auckland. Seen him many times. Later I went and enjoyed a meal with the band next door at New Plymouth Club Bistro. Lovely food.... Yum. Awesome night.
