Kia ora and welcome to New Plymouth Girls’ High School, a school with a proud reputation for developing educated, confident young women of outstanding character. NPGHS continues to support, educate and inspire students to become active learners and citizens who will seek out challenges.
We passionately believe in the effectiveness of girls’ education to empower young women to develop their strengths and talents. We have a strong history of academic excellence and a proven record of outstanding achievement in sport, visual and performing arts, vocational pathways and cultural activities. Through these activities, students discover their creativity, teamwork, leadership, life balance and sense of self.
The staff strive to continue learning, to innovate and to bring out the best in our students, pastorally and academically. We believe in the value of each student and I want all students to feel they belong and are respected within the school. We aim for our students to be confident, active partners in their learning, taking full advantage of the opportunities the school can offer them.
NPGHS has strong values, with Whakamana/Respect, Haepapa/Responsibility and Whanaungatanga/Positive Relationships, central to so much of what we do. We encourage in students a sense of purpose, hope, community and service and enjoy seeing students leave the school as creative, compassionate and capable adults. We aim to recognise each student for her individual talents and character, with the ability to discover her own passions and a contribution to make to her community.
