★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A scenic waterfront stretch and tourist hot-spot of Wellington, this sunny esplanade is popular all year round especially in fine weather attracting all groups of people to get out and about to exercise and socialise. Find strollers, joggers, dog-walkers, roller bladers, etc. sharing the pavement alike while parents with young kids take to the nearby beach playground.
There are coffee kiosks and eateries offering refreshments and meals and no shortage of photographers clicking away at selfies or the stunning veiws. In the distance the Carter Memorial Fountain can be observed a few metres out to sea, and especially when the light display comes on at night. Other iconic landmarks are the Port Nicholson Marina, Oriental Beach, Freyberg Pool and the Boat Cafe to name a few.
