About Parkview Helensville Auckland NZ
Helensville’s Maori name is Te Awaroa — "The Valley of the Long River"— after the Kaipara River that winds through the historic township. The area was settled in 1862 by the pioneer timber miller, John McLeod, from Novia Scotia. He built a single-storey kauri home and named it Helen’s Villa, in honour of his wife. As the town grew it took and adapted the name.
Helensville's population as at the 2013 census was 2,643. The village attracts a steady stream of visitors as a gateway for the Northwest region's varied recreational activities. Horse trekking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, hiking, hot pools, west coast beaches and wineries are all within easy reach.
