★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disgusted by a staff member who rudely refused my mask exemption. I am 6 months pregnant and can collapse easily with my condition and feel very discriminated against, a violation of human rights. He refused to have a conversation to come to any understanding and was very rude. So I spent my money elsewhere. This has never happened after months of use of my exemption. Appalled. Merry Christmas and be kind.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff members are rude and power trip on covid rules. I was followed around the store when I had my mask on doing nothing wrong while the worker blabbed about covid-how about find someone actually breaking the rules and tell them off.
Would recommend going to the glasshouse down the road. Nice staff, better prices, no over the top covid policing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My young teenage niece has mask exemption as she has condition that causes her to faint often. She also had Covid a few weeks ago so is not at risk for catching or spreading it. Was rudely approached and yelled at for not wearing a mask in store by staff member. Will never being going back.
Edit: thank you for your response. Her mother called you because of the rude nature in which her daughter was approached and kicked out. All other stores we have come across in whitianga accept mask exemptions and are very understanding so I suggest anyone coming to whitianga spend their money at those stores.
Just so you know, for some friendly advice, before this incident, I have heard a lot about your stores harsh Covid response in general. A lot of the locals have told me that your store is getting a reputation for being the staff being quite rude. Instead of getting defensive (not just with my review, but the other negative reviews I’ve seen), I suggest you take an honest look at how you treat customers.

They have a sign about masks that I found rude and insulting, and seemed not to consider the real mental health implication for some customers who have legitimate mask exemptions. Pinky’s used to be a regular destination whenever we were in Whitianga but we won’t be going there again anytime soon.

Don’t waste your time coming to this shop, I have seen the staff be rude and angry at the customers a few times and I’ve had enough. Seeing them yell at at children was the final straw. I don’t care what the situation was, how they acted was completely uncalled for! They seriously lack good customer service skills, especially the kind you expect in a great small town like whitianga.

We have mask exemptions but I read on the notice they dont accept mask exemptions, but I still went in to purchase a mask so I could spend money in their store, however got to the counter to purchase and the lady was so rude she said “your actually not aloud in here without a mask so put it on right away” I would have respected her if she said it in a polite manner. Will be taking my business elsewhere. Absolutely disgusting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this place. It is like a $2 Dollar place. It has everything from tent pegs to stationary, it's as cheap as chips and the staff are knowledgeable, patient, informative and friendly. I've been there as often as I can get there because everytime I've been, it's been an excellent experience, and I just want to keep going back. It's almost better than the warehouse!
