About Pokeno Bacon
Today the children of the 70's and 80's reminisce as they bring their own children to taste the hot sausages fresh from the pan at the Pokeno Bacon butcher's shop or to enjoy a delicious Pokeno Bacon sandwich from the Mercer café. Pokeno village has become synonymous with Pokeno Bacon.
As the business has grown two of the Clotworthy children have also joined the family business, ensuring that the traditional Pokeno Bacon experience can be enjoyed by many more generations of New Zealanders. Both John and Helen still work in the business and are just as passionate about it as they were all those years ago. Their love of the Pokeno community and the honest country lifestyle still inspire them to stand strong in their values every day.

It has huge range of gourmet meat product - from sausages to marinated steaks etc. The tidy store is well maintained and you can see all the signs were beautifully written. Their specials are good deals and worth trying. You can’t find all these in a supermarket. You can buy some ice cream cone just few steps away!

It's culinary artistry, at its finest, making it hard when you try choosing from such a tantalising range.
One helpful decider, is the hot pan, kept full, with Sausages, which are there to taste... but shush ?... don't tell anyone; they are all very tasty.
Last but not least, to the team who work the counter... you are so good at what youse do... so thank you.?

Yesterday I bought two T-bone steaks (aged on the bone) which were delicious! I also bought a kilo of Bacon which they use at their outlet Café at Mercer, where we had brunch yesterday. I can't wait to eat that as well.
Very friendly staff; I was given a delicious beef sausage as a sampler.
