About Prendos New Zealand Limited
Although we have some way to go to fully embrace sustainability, we’re heading in the right direction.
Being in the construction industry, we recognise that the biggest impact we can make is to influence the sustainability of projects we’re involved in. So, our sustainability policy focuses on training and development of people in this area. We want everyone at Prendos to be passionate about and drive sustainable outcomes.
Not all clients are open to engaging with a formal Greenstar or Passive House certification process. However, our policy is to incorporate learnings and principles from these programmes into all projects, to the extent allowed by project briefs and budgets.
One of the most effective and enduring ways to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of buildings to reduce the ‘energy in use’. That’s why we promote Passive House principles in design of the thermal envelope, heating, cooling and ventilation design. And why we also specify New Zealand-made products that are sustainable and readily available, wherever possible.
You can rest assured building materials are researched to ensure the carbon footprint of the construction work is minimised. For example, our commercial flooring supplier now uses 100% recycled backing in their new carpet tile range, which is certified as netZero Carbon.
All new timber is FSC certified, and we recommend waste management processes such as REBRI to reduce waste from construction activities.
