β β β β β Hut is nice, gets damp on the inside from condensation but nothing too crazy. Fits 12ish people but the fire is the real star of the show, perfect if you've just come out of the rain when it's cold as the hut is spacious and allows for the heat to travel everywhere. Views are great if the weather isn't foggy which is common, especially in winter.

β β β β β Hoping this review will help others plan their trip βΊοΈ It took us (3 somewhat fit mid-30 y/o's) 1 hour 40 mins to get to the hut from the carpark in pouring rain (rain so bad we had to drive slowly with our windscreen wipers on full). The hut was clean and tidy, and we had a bit of cellphone reception. There are a few packs of playing cards on the table. There is no gas or cookers like the Great Walks, but there is a sink just outside the front door with water to be boiled. The hut is "serviced" though when we were there this seemed to only mean firewood is available...there is no toilet paper or candles to put in the candle holders (there are no solar lights either). The hut is just one open room and (provided there is room) you can stay on the floor without a booking..but obvs its best to book and support DoC by paying the minimal fee. Camping outside the hut is free and a booking isn't required but there is limited flat ground (i.e. probably 2 spaces). There are a few hooks to hang wet gear on, and a couple of pieces of line from the roof too with a small number of pegs. The hut is lovely and warm with the fire going, and stayed warm most of the night.

β β β β β One of my favourite huts. An easy 2 hour walk up to the hut. Small pool next to track 5 minutes from the hut to wash/dunk in. Stunning views from hut. Important to book in summer as it is fairly small.

β β β β β Intermediate hike of about 2 hour/ 5 hours via deadmans track.
Beautiful views on the way. Amazing view from the top. Beautiful hut. Heaps of firewood. It got toasty after 30m.
Few sharp edges on the way.
