In 2015 I bought 2 brand new Renaults. A top of the line Bose Koleos for myself and a personally designed Clio that was constructed in France and delivered to NZ for my wife. So you might say we are relatively good customers. Both vehicles "until recently" have been solid and reliable. However the background service for these products has simply been atrocious. I will never set foot in Queenstown's Renault agent Central Otago Motor Group ever again but thats another story. I say "until recently" because the differential on the Koleos just failed. Now even though diff unit's rarely fail I understand this can happen on a 6 year old 70,000km vehicle. But here's the problem. Enquiries to Renault NZ for a replacemment differential unit resulted in, wait for it, a $16,000 cost!!! This is completely ridiculous, inappropriate and unacceptable. It does not matter to me if the replacement has to come from France. This is not a Ferrari or Lamborghini. It's a simple everyday 4 wheel drive. Renault, do you feel this service or support for your customers is acceptable or appropriate? I now know it was a substantial error purchasing Renault motor vehicles because a) I can't get my vehicles serviced or worked on by a Renault agent that provides solid, honest, and reliable customer service (plus there are no other options apart from the one agent in Queenstown) b) if spare parts are that ridiculously prohibitive cost wise and not in stock in the country then where does that leave me as a customer? I am now forced to look at wreckers and will have to settle for an unknown conditioned 2nd hand unit when all I want is a new replacement for my vehicle. And you are hoping to grow your market share in NZ Renault? I now understand why I see very few Renaults on the road. I do know this. When we are done with these two motor vehicles I will never ever consider buying Renault again. Product? Yes, I admit it is good. Service and support? Non existent and completely unacceptable. I added this feedback to the Renault NZ facebook page and it was instantly removed. So much for unbiased feedback. I then emailed Renault with the same message 2 weeks ago and have had no one follow up with me via either email or phone call. Buyers beware and do your homework before you purchase this brand. JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH RENAULT. NOT EVEN CLOSE...
