About Richard Wood Photography
I am a Hawke's Bay Photographer working in a diverse range of photography genres. I am a portrait photographer, a wedding photographer, a commercial photographer and an artist. Outside of this I am also a photographic educator, mentor and judge for photographic industry professionals around the world. Much of my time outside of 'taking photos' is spent as an educator at 'The Portrait Masters' where I provide both online teaching and in person workshops around the world. I also enjoy extending my work to other creative sectors, such as over seeing set design for the Festival Opera, Judging the New Zealand Edible Fashion Awards and giving creative/art direction to corporate advertising campaigns.
I have been awarded the title of Grand Master of the NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) and have also achieved the title of 'New Zealand Professional Photographer of the Year' four times in 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2021. In 2020 I won the Creative Grand Award at WPPI in Las Vegas. I continuously create work for awards because I find it a wonderful platform to continuously push my creative boundaries and keep up with growth in an ever enhancing industry.
