A beautiful place amongst all the trees. The Trek's vary from beginner to more advance excusions. All of which showcases the majesty of New Zealand bush from rainforest to near Alpine landscapes. Be prepared for all weather, cause you may experience all four seasons in one hour. The weather can change that quick. The movie sets are mostly gone (There is the Rivendell archway), but there are ornate posts of each part of the movies. The place is popular for camping so book in advance is necessary, particularly from October through to April.

Great to see this filming location. Amazing scenery. A lot of imagination needed! There is a replica gate that has been built. The rope bridge is recommended. Very close to the car park and accessible. There's a number of information boards around. Tree #119 was the highlight for us!

Well, it does need some imagination to visit Rivendell and still feel the magic of the site. But I’m a huge fan of LOTR. So, it is already magical having to visit the place twice!

Magical place, especially for fans of the LOTR movies. There are plenty of long Forrest hikes, places to swim in the river as well as camping. Pack your picnic basket/tent/hiking shoes, and make this a day trip/weekend trip and just relax! Well worth the trip.

Beautiful area with descriptive displays explaining what Lord if the Rings scenes were filmed in each area. You can drive right up to it almost with just a short walk over to the area. After enjoying the actual filming area we walked over to the swinging bridge nearby and walked through the woods, where there was also descriptive signs of the plants and trees. Whether fans of LOTRs or just looking for a great nature walk this is a must see.

Nice little walk into a cool Alpine Forest where some of the Lord Of The Rings was shot. Nice walks around it and a pretty cool swing bridge! Few posts and maps around that are movie related and a replica arch

Great walking tracks here in the Kaitoke park and bush. Also can see some Lord of the Rings set location of Rivendell. Not much is there just one arch.
