★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great day out with your family to get a snapshot of tranquil lifestyle. You wouldn’t believe how amazing this place is, until you visit, 68km away from the Auckland city on the SH16. A calm shallow sea, golden coarse beach and a long wharf, greets you on arrival. There is a kid’s play area, walkways along the beach and a camping area (motor homes only). What’s more, the people friendly Jetty café offer the awesomest sea food (fish & chips +++) I’ve ever tried at very, very reasonable prices. Just try it yourself in a weekend and you will not be disappointed! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not the most exciting beach in NZ. Huge carparking area, fairly long pier, decent sized launching ramp. Clean public amenities, Cafe on entrance, opens at 10, menu fairly good, pricing not crazy. Children's play area. Fishing here is good, but White Pointer Sharks have been seen in the area and signs posted previously.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good fishing but please respect boaties using the ramp where your line may be. Good ramp for launching but is shallow at low tide so allow at least 2 hours incoming for launching and retrieving and 2 hours before low.
