β β β β β Lovely clothes - have bought few things from shop. Last time i purchased from their stall at ngatmoti festival - i picked up a top from a rack that had a sign advertising 30% off lowest marked price, however when i went to pay there was no extra 30% discount. I asked about this given the sign said it was off the lowest marked price only to be told that all the prices were already marked down and there is no additional discount. Felt disappointed by this misleading/false advertising.

β β β β β I have been shopping in the store for over four years. I like the linen approach to fashion and some of the pieces in the shop are quite nice. It is unfortunate that most of the NZ designs are actually manufactured in China, but the quality is quite good.
When I was in the store the last time I purchased a blouse that I had to try on in the storage area since there is only one dressing room in the shop and it was occupied by two women trying on several dresses. When I paid for the blouse with my VISA card, somehow I was charged $9,900.19 for a blouse that was $99.00. The girl who was the only sales person in the store did not know how to reverse the charges and had to call for help. After lengthy telephone research on how to reverse the charges, she attempted, but it came back from the bank as declined. She had no idea what to do and there was nobody around to help. I left my email and phone number when I was leaving the store. I was expecting Ulrike, the owner, to immediately contact me with a proposed resolution. After two of my emails, one voice mail to Ulrike, two days later, I finally received an email with an apology from the owner. She also informed me that after talking to the ANZ merchant service, she would be refunding my VISA card $9,801.19 (minus the charge for the blouse) and that it might take a few working days. Five days after my purchase, a refund/credit for $9,801.00 showed up on my credit card.
After this kind of service; having a lovely, but totally clueless sales person in the store alone, the owner contacting the client TWO DAYS LATER by email with apology and explanation how she will refund me, showed me a total disregard for my shopping experience. Since I had not heard from Ulrike for two days, I had to deal with my overdrawn account and my bank to get information on how to proceed with the refund. I do not think I will be shopping or referring friends to Smile Clothing again. There are several other boutiques around that carry linen clothing.
