MEET LUCINDA MCDONALD
SOUL Interior Design is owned and operated by Lucinda McDonald, a fanatical renovator with a love for unlocking the potential in any space. Growing up in Auckland with parents who designed and built homes for a living, Lucinda’s love for design began at a very early age. She has always had a fascination for how people live in their homes and is passionate about designing interiors that are inviting and personal.
After leaving school, Lucinda completed a business degree at Auckland University with a subsequent career in Marketing & Finance. Design was never far from the mind however and during this time, Lucinda studied at the Nanette Cameron School of Design and KLC School of Design while living in London. The resulting skills & experience has allowed Lucinda to gain a unique perspective and ability to balance creativity within any budget (a useful skill that almost every client asks her to do!)
Lucinda’s central belief is that at the end of the day – good design, as well as being a wonderful source of individual style & expression, can simply make you happy.

I wanted to create a great living space for myself and ensure it was vibrant, contemporary and comfortable.
I was conscious of the space to work with and I knew I didnโt have the interior designer in me.
I was very fortunate to have Cindyโs guidance and her ideas helped immensely.
Put simply I could not have realised what I now have without her!

โ โ โ โ โ I was at the beginning of a full home renovation when I contacted Cindy after browsing her website. The house was in an awful state and I was starting to think that a successful renovation would be an impossible task, but happily Cindy reassured me that it would turn out beautifully - she gave me hope that was fully realised.
An interesting colour palette was a high priority for me and Cindy recommended a selection of colours that has created a stunning result. As well as appreciating her design skills, I loved the way Cindy works. She listens carefully, provides options and considers the budget ensuring excellent value for money. She is honest in a nice way if she thinks something wonโt work so I felt safe from expensive disasters. She would quickly answer any queries that came up from the builder, however insignificant.
Cindy has a great network of suppliers and we were very happy indeed with her suggestions of good contractors.
Most of all, working with Cindy was a stimulating, rewarding and creative process that I enjoyed even during the stress of a major building project.

โ โ โ โ โ This year I refurbished a 3 storey office building in Symonds Street, Eden Terrace, Auckland into an upmarket, co living space. It was the first time I had taken on a project of this size and I knew I would need good support. I met with a number of designers and instantly felt Cindy understood the look I was after. She delivered the fresh, funky, young vibe plus more! Cindy was a pleasure to work. She willingly incorporated my own suggestions and was great at fitting in with my hectic schedule and meeting times. I felt Cindy lived and breathed this project almost as much as I did and I was grateful for her suggestions to change and tweak elements as the project evolved. It was a delightful journey with Cindy and I would be more than happy to work with her again. I have had so many compliments on the final product and much of this is due to Cindy's superb ideas.

Cindy was very clear on the brief and made great suggestions. Her ability to combine exsisting elements with newer contemporary ones means we now have elements that โpopโ all across our home.
