About St Joseph's Catholic School
St Joseph's Catholic School, Whakatane is a state integrated school for girls and boys up to Year 8 offering an education with a special Catholic Character. It provides children a unique opportunity to develop academically, physically, socially and spiritually in an environment based on sound principles of our Catholic faith.
St Joseph’s School was established in 1933 by the Sisters of St Joseph. It has grown over the years and our school roll is capped at 280 students.
Our vision is that students move into the future empowered with confidence, skills and Catholic values to be motivated and useful members of society. We aim to challenge students to become life-long independent learners through inquiry, reflection, adaptation, communication and being team players.
We believe that by being a Christ centered educational and faith community, committed to the Catholic formation of young people, we can nurture our student’s gifts and potential while teaching them the values of Jesus Christ and thereby laying the foundations for life.
