Stanmore Bay School - Stanmore.school.nz
At Stanmore Bay School we provide a stimulating environment in which quality teaching and learning can be achieved. We encourage enthusiasm for life-long learning, and develop self-discipline, perseverance and confidence in our akonga. Stanmore Bay School is a PB4L school (Positive Behaviour for Learning). Read about how we achieve this here.
We are located at 32 Waiora Road in Stanmore Bay. Stanmore Bay is part of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, 30 minutes north of Auckland. We are within walking distance to the beach, sports fields, leisure centre and public reserve. Our school is built on a hill in the centre of the Stanmore Bay community.
We are lucky to have a large sports field, three large courts, three playgrounds and a solar heated swimming pool. We have a multimedia auditorium, a hall and extensive library collection. Our music suite is well resourced with Orff tuned and untuned percussion instruments, as well as modern rock instruments and a practice PA. Classes have the opportunity to work in the tech suite taking part in kitchen chemistry and cooking. As an Enviroschool we have a fruit orchard, and recycling, composting and worm farm facilities.
Our school is made up of three Whānau:
Tui whānau - Year 0 to 2
Korimako whānau - Year 3 and 4
Kāhu whānau- Year 5 and 6
Each Whānau has an Associate Principal and Senior teacher who are responsible for monitoring the learning and progress of their year levels. The curriculum is designed by them in conjunction with curriculum teams, with staff working across the school to ensure continuity of programme and a smooth transition to each level of the school as the students move to the next Whānau. We have single cell classrooms as well as two innovative learning environments (ILEs). In 2017 we will have an additional ILE built for the Tui whānau.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This school is amazing and my 18 children (There were 19 but one of them drowned in the pool, which is AMAZING quality!) I went there when I was a young boy (I'm 17 now) and I feel a great rush of nostalgia when I pick up my kids and father. (He's technically my step-son but I've lost track of them all at this point.) #greatschool #luvthepool #death #at #a #young #age #blessed

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This School does not close during school hours for Religious Instruction and in this respect, provides an inclusive environment.
They currently engages the services of a counselor from the Baptist Church (via Coast Families Trust). We are concerned that a councilor from a religious organisation may evangelize vulnerable students and promote church based services.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I Remember Coming Here As A Little Toucan.
A Really Mean Teacher Took A Massive Dump In The Bathroom And Stank Up The Whole Class For The Day.
This School Has So Much Great Memories.
I Remember Pooping Behind The Tree Because The Toilet Smelt So Bad.
The Poo Might Still Be There.
PS: I Took A Picture Of The Poo.
