★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love Taihape. Friendly locals. Unfortunate not many shops to browse. Cinema is great and well priced. New World is creaming the profits with over priced products compared to the city. Pub has beautiful meals that are fairly priced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great to stay for 1 or 2 days but the town needs a major revamp. The main street is not really inviting with most of the shops closed due to not being earth quake proofed but apart from that there is no colour, no plants which would have a big impact.

Mataroa just north of Taihape has some of the best views
