★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had dealings with Taranaki Vets in Stratford a few times, always in regards to my kunekune pigs. The personal service has been very good with a quick response to a call out request I made on a couple of occasions. Their out of hours service is excellent. I called them recently when one of my sows had a re-occurring infection. The vet who called me back almost immediately remembered the call out over a year ago for the same reason and was able to advice me successfully -and for free - over the phone which really helped my sow.
In the past the quality of their service depended much on which vet I got. I was once asked to inject my boar with antibiotics. Suffice to say the said boar had other ideas and did not stand still long enough for me to inject him. In the last year or two the service has become more consistently good with realistic treatment prescribed such as antibiotic powder.
When one of my boars was terminally ill, the vet who attended was extremely sensitive and caring, realising he was dealing with my pet pig. This made the whole dreaded experience much more bearable.
The receptionist staff, particularly Marge, is very helpful. She once scooped out a whole container of treatment powder to work out how many grams one scoop was so I could administer the right dose for my pig.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Recently had a not so good experience here, profit over care, compassion & empathy. My own fault though got into a financial bind no job no income.
My dog has an allergy, & my other has heart issues. So friggin hard & humiliating when you owe money & can't pay your bill.
Always get pet insurance or squrriel money away. You never know when your gonna need a vet.
I let my dogs down & never again will I put myself in a situation where my furbies have to suffer because I could not afford payments.
Cried for days ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took my little dog Max to see the vet because he has a skin condition, she was very helpful and great with Max who does not like or trust new people. We are going back next week for his check up, All the staff that were on were great with him and I would recommend them to anyone.
