COVID-19 Update
Booster vaccines are now available for anyone aged 18+ who have had their second dose of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine 3 months or more ago. Please come and see us. No appointment needed.
From 17 January 2022, COVID-19 vaccines are available for children and young people aged 5 years and over. Please contact us to make an appointment.

- New Zealand is now operating under the Traffic Light System, with Taupō being in the ORANGE setting.
- If you have an urgent problem or are unwell, please phone us.
- 80% of our appointments are face to face.
- Appointments for phone consults remain in place.
- If you have any cold like symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, fatigue) please stay at home. If you are unwell, please call us. In a health emergency call 111.
- We have minimised the need for you to come into the surgery, and you can now get any form you need emailed to you, or sent directly to the lab or radiology department. All prescriptions will be directly sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
- Please wear a facemask when you come to the surgery.

- If anyone is struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or has mental health concerns, you can book a phone consult with one of our great Health Improvement Practitioners ‘HIPs’, or call or text 1737 anytime, for support from a trained counsellor.
Need a same day/urgent appointment? If you don’t already have an appointment, and think you need to be seen, please call and we will add your name to our GP call back list for a phone call back that day. For any health emergencies please call 111.

The COVID Swab Centre is located at 6/29 Totara Street and open from 08.30am-3pm on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday and 8.30am-4pm on Wednesday to Saturday. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have always had positive experiences when dealing with people from Taupo Health Centre, Everyone from Receptionists, Nurses, and Drs have been polite, engaging and professional at all times even when there was a mix up the office staff looked into it and solved the issue with no finger pointing which i appreciated. It is always clean and tidy which is what one wants when dealing with healthcare.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So I had been a regular patient here for 3 Years with Taupo Health Centre and I must say the staff and Doctors, Nurses are absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this doctor surgery to anyone living locally for their familys. Absolutely lovely people I will be back one day but until then I would be happily to say thank you for everything that this surgery has done for me and my family over the past few years.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Generally you go in and the staff are ok but spoke to a receptionist on the phone and she was not polite or helpful whatsoever. Have called and been in for repeat prescriptions a few times and the cost always seems to differ, they explained that if I wanted a prescription that day I would have to pay more but all the previous times I got a prescription the same day the cost was less. I guess it just depends on who you get on the day!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely useless. Are the doctors even qualified? I have been in 5 times this year for the same problem and it got worse over the year. I waited a little over an hour and The doctor who saw me was googling my symptoms on the internet. My problem got worse so I decided to go back one more time. The nurse checked my temperature and then told me leave to buy a cream. That was it. Not even antibiotics were given. The cream I bought did not improve my problem and she charged me 10 dollars for pretty much checking my temperature. Absolutely ridiculous.

Seriously, have you ever been to a Medical Clinic where they are running on time?
The Staff and Dr's here are awesome and my GP Peter always has time to catch up with me when i see him so please don't be haters cause we all have to wait ....PATIENT'S is a VIRTUE :-)
