β β β β β Terrible wifi. You can't charge anything on their wall plugs, but I did anyway...

β β β β β This library has a separate room with about 18 desks to use with outlets near each one. The wifi is free and standard for the area and NZ library network. It was full of backpackers when we went.

β β β β β Very small library. DVDs cost money to borrow so I donβt bother. Inter library loans cost money too so I also donβt bother. I thought libraries are meant for open and free information? Friendly and helpful staff though. It needs a relocation because itβs just too small of a place, crammed onto the corner of a small street intersection.

β β β β β Due to the weather our plans had to change and we came here to use the Wi-Fi. We were put in a small room with literally a room full of obvious and typical backpackers most of which were dirty and smelly (not kidding).
At least half of them were using this room to stay out of the rain and eat their food taking up ALL of the chairs and charging points.
Some people were just sat selfishly streaming which made it almost impossible to use basic internet. We are 'backpacking' and camping around the country but don't reduce ourselves to the stereotypical selfish, ignorant and rude type backpackers are known for. Come on library sort it out, at least limit the room and Wi-Fi to an hour or 2. People were even hanging up their wet clothes where ever they could.

β β β β β Now wifi is accessible outside of work hours (standard APNK-88888888 thing). There's a wifi room (two adjacent rooms) with separate access. There are signs in the library saying you can't use your computer in the main library, and there are three computers for public use that's only 30min, one session per day (don't know if enforced). Didn't really have any issues with backpackers, there were several people when I visited (it was a nice day though)

β β β β β Rude staff. Under level 2 I was allowed 15 minutes, but was rudely asked to leave after 5 minutes as the librarian had erroneously let one person too many in after me. She wouldnt let me use a power point for my laptop, but allowed the gentleman who came in after me to do so. I had to use my own mobile data. My rates pay for this library, and I had a deadline for a job application. We are all affected by Covid, but kindness and understanding go a long way. A pity Te Anau library think otherwise. Definitely not a peaceful welcoming sanctuary.
