β β β β β It is wonderful that this historic building has been restored and maintained as it constitutes an important asset for this lovely community of Tokomaru Bay. The accommodation is, as other reviewers have noted, comfortable and spacious. In the large lounge there is plenty to do if the weather (glorious when we were there) keeps you indoors: puzzles, books, games, DVDs, TV and interesting pictures and folders containing the history of the area and the East Coast.
Our hosts provided everything for a substantial breakfast, including eggs, as well as leaving home-baked biscuits and a bowl of fresh fruit for us. Little vases of fresh flowers in the rooms we used were a nice touch.
As soon as we had made our booking, Bill and Jan sent us a helpful guide to the East Coast
Thank-you, Bill and Jan, for your friendly hospitality.

β β β β β Brilliant, Bill and Jan were great hosts who couldn't do enough to make my stay comfortable. I spent two nights and had to work in between. Mid-winter so they checked when I would be returning so they could turn heaters on. This meant I returned to a lovely warm living area and the bed and bedroom were spacious and comfortable. Loved being able to cook my own meal and Bill and Jan provided desert on my evening arrival. Breakfast food left for self preparation was generous.
I just loved the cozy living room and the comfy couches and gas heaters for warmth.
Would totally recommend to anyone who wants a home away from home and doesn't mind possibly sharing living and kitchen space. Own bathroom and bedroom with plenty of space to chill out if you wanted to be away from the living area.
Warm, friendly hosts and a warm friendly welcome. Nothing was too much of a problem.

β β β β β We had a lovely stay at the Post Office, such a pretty building. Jan was extremely welcoming, making us a tea with biscuits on arrival, then they generously offered us 2 bedrooms for the price of one (so my mother and I could have our own beds), because there were no other customers that night. The furnishings are very comfortable, with a tinkly old piano to play and a TV with a selection of videos, and all at a great price for well appointed country luxury and a nice breakfast. Highly recommended!

β β β β β Te Poutapeta is a heritage building just a minutes walk from the beach in this beautiful coastal town. The host does not live on site so the accommodation is just you & whoever else may be staying at the time - the host rang me in advance to ask if we minded sharing for the night we were there, just to check. The old Post Office building is fully renovated & is beautifully maintained, clean tidy & well appointed with all the facilities you could want. There is a large, shared lounge/dining area with plenty of provisions for your do-it-yourself continental breakfast - there was even home-baking for snacks. The lounge has very comfortable lounges, TV & DVD, a piano, plenty of reading material & an album with the history of the building & town.
Our bedroom was large & comfortable. Our cosy queen sized bed had beautiful linen, lovely pillows & a welcoming chocolate to boot. We even had a peek of the sea from our window! We had a private bathroom which was large, clean & modern. There is a shared kitchen with all you need for self-catering.
The host, Bill Hughes, was gracious & friendly. He was a pleasure to deal with, was very informative on the town, facilities & local area & most helpful.
We wouldn't stay anywhere else when next in the area.

β β β β β The Post Office B&B is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The old Post Office has been lovingly restored and beautifully refurbished, spacious comfortable rooms with vases of cut flowers too. Wonderful hosts Bill and Jan, provide an abundance of fresh farm produce for breakfast and make you feel quite at home. I thoroughly recommend a stay here.

β β β β β Bill & Jan are hosts to the wonderful old Tokomaru Bay Post Office B & B. Six grumpy old men staying together had such a relaxing time together over 3 days. The establishment is very comfortable, has plenty of space to chill out with the hosts doing a superb job to ensure your stay is memorable. Great continental breakfast provided on request and the fresh free range eggs that we turned into scrambled eggs were divine! By the way for some of us this was a second or third time return so that says heaps!

β β β β β Excellent location right in Tokomaru Bay and set up beautifully with lots of very interesting books on the history of the area among other topics, plus a wide range of DVDs, games and other entertainment if so desired. Wonderfully furnished in keeping with the history of the building and very comfortable. Excellent value.

β β β β β Bill and his whanau went above and beyond to make us welcome for our summer break. A privilege to stay in this beautiful property. We will definitely be back. Location is perfect right by the beach and Bill ensured we had everything we needed. Just perfect!
