Early morning hoe across lake Tarawera, cliffs of Moura in site mist raising up from the lake..... Heading to twin creeks for a short rest from Tarapatiki, a poaka puihi nice size at that swimming in the water is spotted by one of the youth. The sound of youth chanting as they litely tap there hoe (paddles) on the rauawa of the waka tangata ko Auheke tera reverberating across the lake , excited, voices echo, chilling, suspense the therepuetic intent of nature at its best mighty giant Tarawera looking over kokiri hi kokiri hi....akiakina hi whakawhiti to hoe ki waenga ki te taha hi ha aue ha hi! As we await the second waka of youth with our Rangatira
uncle Putu Mihaka in lead chants heard first, then suddenly appears through the mist a sight never to be forgotten held in the walrua tu ana Nga huruhuru te ihi, te wehi, te wana for ever..Maioha ana nga mihi ki a koutou Te whanau Waiariki Purea Trust.
