★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent walking trail in Hutt region. We took Fire break. O boy, it was steep one and for sure it test your fitness. When you reach the top, that's the reward "breathtaking" view. Walking down is another challenge. Need a good shoe grip and we need to be careful as it is steep with loose rock.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place for a walk or Mountain-bike ride. It can get quite busy with people so the best times are early in the morning or before dusk. I would rate the level of difficulty at about 1 out of 5 (1 being easy). Its a great beginners ride and you can turn around and go back if you feel tired.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drive to Te Whiti Park and park your car there to start your hike up Te Whiti Riser. It took us 1.5 hours going up the main track, and 1 hr back down. There were lots of shortcuts/off tracks- I guess made by other hikers(?), which could make the hike a bit confusing at times. At the summit, you get views of Hutt Valley and a bit of Wellington Harbour and Matiu/Somes Island. Hike was very doable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Covid Vac 2nd injection, 4 from my household. Booking was for Saturday, get to location EMPTY, doors closed call? call the Covid line to query, was then told?? Not sure why you were given a Saturday booking when their closed today?♀️. No biggy went into Central Hutt, found walk ins were acceptable ? got our 2nd DOT. And only took 2hrs of fluffing to sort.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If it wasn't inappropriate, I would mihi to this maunga...so I'm just satisfied to ride it as regularly as possible.The best thing HCC has done since they put in the zoom tube into Naenae in the 80's.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cool very steep hike. Did it with my young kids, they loved it too. Very memorable with a variety of path options including dense subtropical rainforest and exposed fire roads. Saw two other hikers on a Monday afternoon.
