★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent private members club that has really turned itself out well since a significant renovation. The bones of the old club remain ensuring a brilliantly Old World charm made better with expansive sitting areas and dining suits in the new additions.
An impressive billiards room with purpose-built, high spectator couches, and a fresh new tennis court mean that club members are treated to all degrees of sport. Accommodation in what feels like a beautifully turned out home is available for club members and their guests.
Wines and beers available match New Zealand’s strong offerings on both. The kitchen turns out delicious takes on traditional Kiwi dishes, a garlic-covered barbecue lamb was exceptionally good when we passed through.
Go here for a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy lounging quietly to get through the harder points in your day. Excellent.
