★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were really lucky having a brilliantly fine day with great views and warm temps when we had lunch at the Craypot. Had the Blue Cod and chips which had been caught that morning, the fish that is. Very tasty.. Take some insect repellent as they can be a nuisance although not so much for us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very very good. Take insect repellent, staff are amazingly freindly.
Pricier than your average fish and chips but worth it

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have visited the Craypot several times. Often, it's not open. Definitely check the sign in Haast before traveling the 50 km to Jackson Bay. I had the most basic of meals - groper and chips. OMG! Fish was so fresh and chips cooked perfectly. My wife had a delicious whitebait pattie on ciabata with salad. Good coffee too. It's great to be eating food that was caught in the sea outside the window. You won't find better fish and chips anywhere else in the country.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was 50kms there but boy, was it worth it. Eating Blue Cod perfectly cooked and served by loveliest girl, with a glass of perfectly chilled pinot gris, in the most spectacular place with the most stunning scenery. If I didn't hear my heart beating with joy, I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drove from Haast around 30km. Read a review of it , and sounded pritty dam good . The crayfish salad was sold out . We both had a Seafood Chowder, I must say it was good. The chowder was thick , creamy and full of fish . Washed down with a cold beer . A very busy shop with public toilets across the road . Hrs are from 11-3pm . Nice and sunny with a great view out to sea .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional cuisine at this quirky little spot at the end of the road. We had the whitebait patty (huge and delicious with generous tasty salad) and seafood chowder (also delicious with plenty of seafood). One of the best meals I've had on the West Coast and worth the drive. Highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place has an awesome reputation, thoroughly deserved. We chose to share a crayfish salad and a seafood basket. The presentation is simple and most of the seating is outside. The quality of the food and the stunning setting draw people to drive the 40 km south from Haast. Am amazing experience- a lunch to remember and a place to return to. That first mouthful of crayfish was divine.
