★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I first saw this highly polished stainless steel sculpture of Captain James Cook (2015), created by the renowned Maori conceptual artist, Michael Parekowhai, it was located in The Lighthouse, a small two-story house on the edge of Auckland's busy Queen's Wharf. It's now located in the Art Gallery of NSW. It shows the heroic British navigator, dressed in his naval topcoat, with hair tied in a ponytail, seated and in a rather pensive mood. The dazzling sculpture is definitely worth a look!
