About The Flagship Events Hire Company
The Flagship Events Company was established by Patch Reynolds and Ted Thorp.
They have both worked extensively in the yachting and hospitality industries.
Combining their backgrounds of event management and building, they have experience working with the most demanding clients and conditions onboard some of the world’s largest super-yachts. They have returned to New Zealand to put all this experience to good use by creating The Flagship Events Company.
From their experiences at home and abroad the pair have come to appreciate attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship and the simple level of elegance that makes some products a cut above the rest. This is what led them to the doors of the Sperry family on the East Coast of the USA.
They believed they had a shared philosophy on what it takes to make an event truly special.
They worked with them, talked with them and learned from them. They watched them mill the Spruce from their own forest for the spectacular centre poles, watched the hand sewing and stitching that goes in to every sail cloth canopy and most importantly got to understand the philosophy and passionate attention to detail that goes in to every single tent made by the Sperry Family.
They immediately knew they had found the right partner and then undertook the extraordinary logistics of getting home seven meter spruce poles, hundreds of meters of handmade sail cloth and the hundreds of detailed accessories required to bring a Sperry tent to life.
This is the first time such a tent has ever been seen on the New Zealand shores. The natural and elegant aspects of the Sperry tent combined with our beautiful landscapes, makes this an obvious choice for your special event.

They were incredible from the get-go, sharing ideas and really just made everything easy and perfect. When setting up they repainted the bar so it would be fresh. Their products are top quality and beautiful. During covid they were fast at communicating and all round amazing people. 110% recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Upon deciding to have a marquee wedding, in was a no brainer to lock in Flagship. The Cape Cod three pole tent made for the most amazing setting for our 160 guests. The tent was so beautiful and a statement on its own which meant that there was not a lot of additional styling required. Ted and Patch were incredible to deal with, attending to all our queries really quickly and drawing up multiple seating plans until we decided on the one to go for. They were also our go to for all things wedding, with their wealth of knowledge and advice. The set up and take down was seamless and our venue was really impressed with their work. The marquee truly made our reception. We couldn’t recommend them enough.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We used Flagship Events for our wedding in October 2019 in Auckland, New Zealand and cannot recommend their marquees more highly. We used both the Boston Round and the Cape Cod. The Cape Cod was where we had the wedding reception dinner and the Boston Round was used for both the ceremony in the afternoon and then was transformed into the evening cocktail lounge. The two joined together was simply stunning and worked so well for a Spring wedding. The team at Flagship were exceptional to deal with, communication was fantastic throughout the planning stages and they were both flexible and accommodating to our last minute changes. A huge thanks to Ted and the team for helping to create the wedding of our dreams!

Patch and Ted conducted multiple site visits for us as we had chosen to have two of their gorgeous marques for our wedding - The Cape Cod and The Manhattan. Our florist wanted to hang flowers from both the ceiling and walls of The Cape Cod and the boys were so accommodating and worked closely with her to ensure this happened. Nothing was to difficult - even trimming trees to ensure the perfect fit! Both marques were truly beautiful on the day - settling into the landscape so perfectly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We love the Flagship tents so much that we hired 2 for our wedding! The Cape Cod for dinner and dancing and the Boston Round for a bar area. Ted and the team did an epic job of the set up and they looked fantastic. It was quite a windy night for the reception but the tents are super sturdy and we felt so cosy with the sides down. We also used their sisal flooring which I would highly recommend - made a great dance floor. Gin is lovely and very easy to deal with, managing last minute changes in the week leading up to the big day. So many people commented on our tent set up, it really transformed a bare paddock into a wedding venue!
We would highly recommend Flagship Events for your wedding or special event.

For our wedding in Hawea, we used the Manhattan Tent for dining and the Carolina Tent as our Bar tent, for both these we used their lights as well!
They also set up an outdoor dance floor below fairy lights which was absolutely stunning!
Another highlight for us was how easy it was to communicate with flagship from start to finish!
We cant wait to get in contact with Flagship again to hire their tents for our 30th's!
