β β β β β I used to love this place, not just for its fresh fish, but for the real chips, not the frozen and fried kind you get in most places.
Unfortunately this is no longer the case.
I hope they go back to the old way of making their chips.

β β β β β Great chips, but slightly small portions of fish. But it all tastes good. Shame there are no potato fritters on the menu.

β β β β β Easily the best chippie in Auckland. The curry sauce is perfect. They just need to add a chip buttie to the menu

β β β β β I was reading thru a promo that this chippy was offering re st Patrick's day ie Guinness battered fish, which now explains why the batter looked burnt and overcooked. Strange thing was it did taste okay (I never mentioned that in my previous post) I've now seen owners reply and understand now, thanks for that maybe we will try it again but not with that batter cheers

β β β β β First time we went there the fish and chips were excellent, not so good the second time. Very disappointing.

β β β β β What an awesome fish & chip shop. Fresh moist fish, crispy batter, hand cut chips. To those reviewers who complain about the price - fresh New Zealand caught fish is not cheap and nor should be, especially snapper, tarakihi and gurnard as this place serves. Those fish are premium table fish, not bland, tasteless hoki or worse, farmed white fish served from a frozen box shipped in from South East Asia. Hand cut twice cooked chips are labour intensive and worth every delicious bite. This place is dedicated to serving premium fare and should be celebrated for doing so. The owners obviously care about quality. Though a lot of people do get it, every time we go there is a queue of people waiting. One bite of their battered fish and youβll see why.

β β β β β The fish and chips were really good quality. Not oily. Chips were hand cut (looked and tasted like it). Fish was on the small side but faultless. Paying a slight premium price but at least you get premium quality. Kind of like shopping in Japan. Gladly pay a higher for superior quality and experience.

β β β β β Searched for the best fish and chips near by. The Mariner came up and it was a further drive than usual. But prices seem like it would be the best. Unfortunately last nights fish ? and chips and beef burger aka baby burger was not very appealing. Fish was small and fishy smelling and chips were wet not very crispy. Not sure if triple cooked. Burgers was tiny brioche for $12 i would expect a whopper. Sausages were not good either that our little dog wouldn't eat it and she eats anything. I think your oil needs changing. Won't be back.
